‘Shame on you’: Mo’Nique defends Claressa Shields against social media critics

Simply as Claressa Shields stands toe to toe with opponents within the boxing ring, Mo’Nique goes to bat for the ladies’s boxing champion within the digital ring of social media. Like many public figures, Shields has been the topic of social media scrutiny, with customers criticizing every little thing from her look to her boxing expertise. 

Most just lately, actress and comic Mo’Nique stepped in as “Auntie Nikki” to defend the 30-year-old professional fighter from the net discourse.

Following her message to Shields, Mo’Nique took a second to handle the haters on social media—particularly the Black ladies:  “And if I’ll for one fast second, discuss to our lovely Black ladies. How dare a few of us? I can’t say all of us as a result of it’s not all of us; all of us don’t really feel that approach. Most of us, once we see Claressa Shields, we see a lovely, assured, sturdy— figuratively and actually—Black lady. That’s what I see, as she’s promoting out these boxing matches, that’s what an entire lot of different Black ladies see.”

“However for these of you who wish to criticize, who wish to talk about what she appears like and she or he’s not lovely, disgrace on you,” she continued. “Don’t pull your insecurities on that stunning lady. Don’t pull your insecurities and your immaturity on that stunning Black lady who’s, by the way in which, making historical past. [Because] when it’s all mentioned and achieved, after they open up the books, guess whose title they going to see as the best lady boxer of all occasions? Claressa Shields. Are you aware what number of little women proper now are saying, ‘After I develop up, I wish to be like that.’”

This comes shortly after Shields took to social media to handle critiques amidst her accomplice Papoose’s feud with 50 Cent, who posted an outdated picture of Shields as a way to taunt her. 

“Please…. Y’all wanna run with the ugly narrative so unhealthy! I used to be 17 years outdated combating for my complete nation and had a OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL AROUND MY NECK! After all I glowed up! And I’m going to all the time be centered It doesn’t matter what! LIKE ALWAYS,” she wrote on X. 

“Boy y’all hate every little thing about Blackness. Being Black, Black ladies, Black help, Black unity, Black noses, Black a—s. It’s actually unhappy,” she added in a follow-up publish. “I’m by no means becoming a member of the hate prepare of my very own individuals.
