Senegal declares Monday a paid public holiday

Senegal will come to a standstill at this time (on Monday) after President Bassirou Diomaye Faye declared a paid public vacation to permit residents to rejoice the nation’s newest Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumph.

The announcement adopted scenes of untamed celebration throughout the nation on Sunday night time after the Teranga Lions defeated Morocco 1–0 in a dramatic AFCON last performed in Rabat.

The victory secured Senegal’s second continental title, additional cementing their standing as one in all Africa’s soccer powerhouses.

Senegal: Nationwide celebrations erupt

As reported by ABC Information, within the capital Dakar, the ultimate whistle triggered an outpouring of pleasure.

Fireworks lit up the night time sky, automotive horns blared via packed streets, and followers of all ages danced and sang whereas draped in Senegal’s inexperienced, yellow and purple nationwide colors.

Monday declared public vacation

To mark the historic achievement, Faye introduced that Monday could be a paid public vacation, permitting residents throughout the nation to completely participate within the celebrations.

He additionally promised monetary rewards for the nationwide staff in recognition of their success.
