Famend televangelist Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has referred to as for a particular prayer and fasting programme forward of the much-anticipated protests scheduled for March 31 in Zimbabwe.

Talking throughout a International Day of Prayer, the Nigerian pastor urged his followers to hope for Zimbabwe, emphasising its significance in Africa.

“Zimbabwe is a crucial nation in Africa. It might not be very giant. It’s not a really large nation, however it’s an important nation. And we aren’t going to let the satan tear it down or take over it. That’s our curiosity. We are going to expel the demons which can be attempting to do it and break their powers within the title of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let there be peace in Zimbabwe, and with peace, there can be prosperity,” Pastor Chris declared.

Pastor Chris Warns Towards Protests

His remarks come at a time when tensions are rising in Zimbabwe, with many voters anticipated to take to the streets on March 31 in protest in opposition to financial hardships, political repression, and allegations of corruption throughout the authorities. Nevertheless, Pastor Chris warned in opposition to collaborating in demonstrations, labeling them as “satanic protests.”

“Don’t permit those that are deceiving you or deceiving the individuals, convincing anybody that they’ve options. They don’t have options. They only need energy. Up to now, you’ve got had relative peace in your nation. They don’t prefer it. However there’s a higher energy than the one they find out about. Don’t destroy the nation. Don’t take heed to those that are telling you ‘exit within the streets,’ however the place are they? Will they go within the streets? They gained’t. Refuse this satanic protest!” he added.

How Zimbabweans React to Pastor Chris’s Warning

Pastor Chris’s feedback have sparked combined reactions amongst Zimbabweans, significantly on social media. Whereas some Zimbabweans welcome Pastor Chris’s name for prayer, others see it as an try and discourage residents from exercising their democratic rights.

Some critics argue that his stance is influenced by his shut ties to his Zimbabwean ‘religious son,’ self-proclaimed prophet Uebert Angel, who has just lately been on the middle of controversy.

Uebert Angel, a high-profile spiritual determine and diplomat, has confronted mounting criticism from political activist Blessed Geza, who has accused him of being complicit in Zimbabwe’s governance points.

Listed below are a few of the reactions:

@Mazibisa Shepherd Sindiso: “As a result of his son Angel was threatened by the Geza fella”

@Charity Mareya: “With all due respect man of God , please depart us alone . That is our nation we’ll repair it our personal means. What if God has allowed it to occur?what do you ask us to hope now? The place have you ever been ? We have now been praying and we is not going to cease praying. By the way in which this an answered prayer .“

Mathew Chitanha: “Pray for Ukraine and DRC depart us alone you don’t understand how individuals of Zimbabwe are struggling, perhaps you’re on a zanu pf pay roll , we don’t need your prayer.”

Debate Over the Way forward for Zimbabwe

Because the March 31 protests strategy, it stays to be seen whether or not Pastor Chris’s plea for peace and prayer will affect public sentiment or if Zimbabweans will take to the streets regardless of his warnings. One factor is definite: the battle for Zimbabwe’s future continues to be fought on a number of fronts—spiritually, politically, and socially.
