San Jose Cop Quits After 10 Pages Of Racist Texts Revealed

A California police officer resigned over the weekend after 10 pages of racist textual content messages had been discovered throughout an inner investigation by the San Jose Police Division. 

In accordance with San Jose Police, Mark McNamara resigned this week after the San Jose Police Division’s Inner Affairs Investigators found McNamara had despatched racist textual content messages to high schools and attorneys.  

“There may be zero tolerance for even a single expression of racial bias on the San José Police Division, SJPD mentioned in a press release. “The messages had been discovered because of the enlargement of our Inner Affairs Unit’s efforts to totally examine all questionable conduct and is why we’ve made investments in a brand new early warning system.”

After the investigation, police launched 10 pages of textual content messages from McNamara, a few of which seek advice from the March 2022 capturing of Okay’aun Inexperienced, a younger black man who performed school soccer in California. In accordance with reviews, Inexperienced was shot by McNamara whereas he was making an attempt to assist break up a combat close to San Jose State College. Witnesses say Inexperienced had wrestled the gun away from the attacker when he was shot by McNamara.

Within the texts discovered by police, McNamara allegedly mentioned in regards to the Inexperienced capturing, “N—r wished to hold a gun within the Wild West. Not on my watch.”

In one other textual content discovered within the investigation, McNamara allegedly mentioned of Inexperienced’s authorized crew that they “ought to all be bowing to me and bringing me items since I saved a fellow n—r by making him wealthy as f—okay.”

Angel Alexander, Inexperienced’s lawyer, mentioned his shopper was “shocked and pissed” when he discovered in regards to the textual content messages. 

“The one actually that stands out probably the most in my head was this textual content that mentioned, ‘I hate black individuals,’ plain and easy,” Alexander advised KTVU. “To see it in black and white on a chunk of paper, there isn’t any guessing or hypothesis. San Jose Police Chief Anthony Mata condemned the messages stating they “demonstrated racial bias.”

“I don’t stand for this. It’s disgusting and horrible that we’ve an officer that thinks that means,” Mata mentioned. “If any worker’s racial bias rears its ugly head, relaxation assured that I’ll take speedy motion to make sure they aren’t a part of this group. I’m extraordinarily pleased with the 99.9% of officers whose achievements and dedication to this group are unmatched, and I cannot let the actions of some officers cloud the extraordinary work being executed in our metropolis daily.”

Mayor Matt Mahan additionally condemned the officer’s textual content messages and stood behind Chief Mata’s phrases. 

“I stand with Chief Mata and all of the officers of the San Jose Police Division who serve our group. There is no such thing as a room for racial bias in our metropolis,” mentioned Mahan. “There may be nothing extra sickening than an individual in energy abusing their place. I’ll sleep higher tonight realizing that this particular person is not carrying a badge and gun.”
