Forward of the BRICS summit on 22 August, South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa attended the forty third Southern African Improvement Neighborhood (SADC) summit, held in Angola on 17 August whereas the African regional bloc prepares for an upcoming election in Zimbabwe.
Southern Africa discusses safety
Presidential spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya stated, “Ramaphosa, because the outgoing chairperson of the SADC Organ, will even attend the Troika Summit.
“The Organ Troika Summit, will talk about the political and safety scenario within the area with explicit deal with the Kingdom of Lesotho, Kingdom of Eswatini, Mozambique (SADC Mission in Mozambique) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
“The Organ Troika Summit will even replicate on consolidation of democracy in SADC and deliberate the socio-economic outlook for the Neighborhood,” Magwenya stated.

Leaders in attendance included member state representatives, discussing future progress and agreements within the manufacturing sector.

On 16 August the regional bloc stated following safety talks, Zambia’s former vice-president, Nevers Mumba was elected to supervise the upcoming elections in Zimbabwe.
Mumba will function the top of mission for the SADC Electoral Statement Mission (SEOM).

“To advertise electoral integrity, electoral justice, good governance, peace, and stability within the SADC area, and to provide impact to the dedication contained within the SADC ideas and tips.

All eyes on Angola for ‘industrialisation’
Commenting on the bloc’s relevance, chairperson (DRC) Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo stated the summit discussions had been meant to drive industrialisation for the area.
This Tshilomobo stated would steer markets away from dependence on major commodities and deal with excessive value-added manufactured items as set out in SADC’s improvement plan.
“I’m delighted that the theme for the approaching yr… as proposed by the incoming SADC Chair, the Republic of Angola, will allow our area to proceed to drive ahead the industrialisation agenda by growing, mobilising and harnessing human and monetary capital,” Tshilombo stated.
