REACH LA’s 3rd Annual Gala Honors LGBTQ+ Trailblazers on the Red Carpet – Los Angeles Sentinel

REACH LA’s third Annual Gala crimson carpet celebration introduced collectively among the queer group’s largest stars. Held on Feb. 15 at Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles, the occasion raised consciousness for the group’s free psychological well being and artistic arts programming for the LGBTQ+ group, with all proceeds supporting L.A. wildfire aid efforts.

Bob the Drag Queen and Monet X Change, co-hosts of podcast Sibling Rivalry, led the night’s festivities, celebrating the achievements of trailblazers throughout varied fields. Michelle Buteau obtained the Artistic Arts Allyship Award for her contributions to inclusive storytelling, whereas Dr. Ayana Elliott was honored with the Public Well being Champion Award for her dedication to well being fairness.

Guillermo Diaz was acknowledged with REACH LA’s Pillar of Excellence Award for his excellent contributions, and Onyx Southwest obtained the Group Partnership Award in appreciation of their sustained and reciprocal partnership with REACH LA.

Stephen Morales, president of the REACH LA Board, highlighted the significance of consistency in advocacy and celebration.

The night celebrated the long-standing combat for LGBTQ+ rights, as figures like drag queen America Prays reminded attendees of the motion’s roots.

Standing alongside Bob, Trans Vanguard Award honoree Peppermint addressed the challenges going through the trans group immediately. “I really feel indignant that our group is being attacked and handled like we’re. Further honorees embody social justice influencer Amber Whittington, who obtained the Social Justice Award, and historian and activist Blair Imani, acknowledged with the Activist with Influence Award. King Jamari Amour earned the Dr. Stephaun E. Wallace Legacy of Hope Award honoring his dedication to uplifting marginalized communities.

For over 30 years, REACH LA has stood on the forefront of advocacy, offering free HIV prevention schooling, psychological well being assets, and artistic arts applications. This 12 months’s gala bolstered the pressing want for continued activism and help.
