Pharrell Williams appointed UNESCO goodwill ambassador

(NNPA Newswire)–Pharrell Williams, the multi-talented artist and humanist recognized for his world hits and philanthropic work, has formally joined the ranks of UNESCO goodwill ambassadors. UNESCO Director-Basic Audrey Azoulay introduced the appointment and cited Williams’ dedication to training, tradition and peace.

“A whole artist, Pharrell Williams can also be a humanist who works to place tradition on the service of peace and bringing individuals collectively,” Azoulay stated. “He believes within the energy of creativity and training to construct a greater future. His commitments resonate with UNESCO’s mandate.”

Williams stated the brand new function aligns together with his mission to help marginalized communities. 

“Phrases can not describe how I really feel about being chosen by UNESCO as a goodwill ambassador,” he stated. “Thanks to Director-Basic Audrey Azoulay for this chance. I’m honored to proceed our work in night the chances for youngsters and adults via training with YELLOW and Black Ambition (initiatives based by Williams).”

The appointment ceremony occurred at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, the place Williams addressed an viewers of 800 secondary faculty college students and rising creatives in trend, music and movie. The occasion featured a screening of “Piece by Piece,” an animated LEGO biopic directed by Morgan Neville that chronicles Williams’ inventive journey.

Williams’ affect spans music, trend and philanthropy.
