Paris Olympics responds to ‘racist’ attacks on Aya Nakamura after reports she’ll perform at opening ceremony

Far-rights French teams have focused in style Malian-French singer Aya Nakamura with “racist” assaults following reviews that she’s going to carry out a music by a specific artist through the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. The sporting occasion is ready to happen in July.

In keeping with BBC, the music is from Édith Piaf – the famend French singer who made a reputation for herself within the twentieth century. However the information of Nakamura, 28, performing a Piaf music was met with disdain from the far-right teams Les Natifs and Reconquest.

Les Natifs held a protest in Paris on Sunday and displayed a banner with the feedback, “There’s no approach Aya, that is Paris, not the Bamako market.” Born Aya Danioko in Bamako, which is the capital of the West African nation of Mali, Nakamura and her household relocated to France throughout her childhood. 

Reconquest celebration supporters equally expressed their disapproval of Nakamura at a rally on Sunday. The Paris Olympics organising committee in addition to Nakamura’s followers and different French political figures have since spoken out in opposition to the racist assaults and expressed their assist for the singer.
