PAFF Artfest Returns to Baldwin Hills Crenshaw with Summer Showcase – Los Angeles Sentinel

The Pan African Movie & Arts Competition (PAFF), the most important Black movie and humanities competition in the USA, presents the return of Artfest at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall on August 21–24.

Based on a spokesperson, “Artfest showcases the work of artists from throughout the African diaspora and past. From effective artwork and pictures to handmade jewellery, trend, sculpture, and crafts, Artfest is an immersive expertise the place tradition and creativity intersect.”

Bakari Santos and Roye Okupe are the featured artists at PAFF Arttfest. Collaborating artists embrace Abe Lavalais, Adewale Ojo, Damola Adepoju, Diana Shanon Younger and Ella Isaac.  An African Artwork Market will probably be showcased as properly.

“Artfest is greater than an artwork present—it’s a market of concepts, tradition, and connection,” stated PAFF Artfest Curator Ghanaian artist Allohn Agbenya. “By bringing the competition again to Baldwin Hills Crenshaw, we’re honoring our roots in South Los Angeles whereas persevering with to uplift and have a good time world Black artistry.”

Initially scheduled to coincide with the Pan African Movie Competition in February, Artfest was postponed because of the devastating wildfires earlier this 12 months. Its return this August is each a homecoming and a reimagining—a possibility for artists and audiences to assemble as soon as once more in an area that celebrates resilience, creativity, and neighborhood.

Alongside the artist showcase, the four-day competition will function particular movie screenings, panel discussions, and quite a lot of cultural occasions.
