In Harlem, a strong group dialog is happening — led by Black girls who’re dedicated to service, justice, and schooling. The New York Alumnae Chapter (NYAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Integrated is main that cost.
As the primary graduate chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., NYAC serves Manhattan by scholarship, social motion, and group service. In 2024, NYAC launched a five-part social motion sequence titled “Unpacking Venture 2025: Inspecting the Impacts on the African American Neighborhood.” The sequence displays the Sorority’s nationwide 5-Level Programmatic Thrust, specializing in instructional improvement, financial improvement, political consciousness, worldwide involvement, and bodily and psychological well being.
Beginning in October 2024, NYAC introduced Harlem residents collectively to discover the specter of Venture 2025, a conservative coverage agenda developed by the Heritage Basis. Half One: Understanding Venture 2025

Panelists included: Dr. Basil Smikle Jr., a professor at Columbia College; political analyst Lurie Daniel Favors, Esq., govt director of the Heart for Regulation and Social Justice at Medgar Evers School; and Nick E. Smith, govt director of Neighborhood Resist Inc. and former NYC First Deputy Public Advocate.
Panelists warned that Venture 2025 threatens to chop voting protections, social security web applications, and variety and inclusion efforts. An inspiring second got here in the course of the occasion when a younger attendee registered to vote on the spot. Half Two: The Financial Influence
On March 12, 2025, the sequence continued at Mom African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, a historic Harlem landmark. This session centered on financial improvement.
Moderated by Tremaine Wright, former New York State Meeting Member, the occasion featured Juanita Lewis, govt director of Neighborhood Voices Heard. They mentioned how federal job cuts, decreased social providers, and the rollback of Range, Fairness, and Inclusion applications within the office would disproportionately hurt Black households and communities.
Half Three: Schooling Beneath Assault
The third installment occurred April 3, 2025, at Shiloh Baptist Church. Dr. Monica George-Fields, CEO of REACH Instructional Options, moderated the dialogue on schooling.
Panelists included Dr. Meisha Porter, former NYC Colleges chancellor; LeRoy Barr, vp of the American Federation of Academics; and Dr. Sean L. Davenport, superintendent of Harlem Neighborhood College District 5. They defined how Venture 2025 seeks to defund public schooling, finish applications like Head Begin, and dismantle DEI efforts in faculties — actions that may severely impression Black college students.
Half 4: Healthcare
