The U.Okay.’s Nationwide Movie and Tv College (NFTS) has launched a scholarship in reminiscence of Channel 4 publicist Lesley Land.

Land, a extremely regarded publicist who labored for Channel 4, died unexpectedly final December on the age of 41. She was honored in the course of the in memoriam section at Sunday night time’s BAFTA TV awards.

Her dad and mom Anita and Brook Land have now joined along with Channel 4 and NFTS to create the Lesley Land Scholarship, which can allow individuals to check for 2 years on the varsity’s MA course in advertising and marketing, distribution and gross sales. The Lands will fund the scholarship, which can help the course tuition charges.

The masters is comprised of specialist modules that may prepare individuals in leisure press and publicity. Former alumni of the course have gone on to work at a variety of well-known leisure corporations together with BFI, Film4, and Warner Bros. Discovery. Functions for the scholarship at the moment are open, with the primary profitable pupil set to begin the course in Jan. 2024.

In addition to Channel 4, Land had labored at Sky, The Outdoors Organisation, Taylor Herring and Planet Hollywood, delivering campaigns for a plethora of movie and TV exhibits. One of many final initiatives she labored on was David Baddiel’s documentary “Jews Don’t Rely,” which was notably near her coronary heart.

“We’re delighted to endow this scholarship in our darling Lesley’s reminiscence,” mentioned Anita and Brook Land. “The NFTS is a implausible institution and is the right place to honor what she achieved in her all too brief life.”

Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon added: “Lesley was much-loved member of the Channel 4 household and is sorely missed by her many, many buddies and colleagues each right here and all through the business. The Lesley Land Scholarship is a splendidly becoming tribute to a heat, form and brilliantly gifted younger lady who had extra influence on folks’s lives than she might have ever realised.”
