NBAF’s 18th annual ‘Fine Art + Fashion’ gala exalts icons

Nationwide Black Arts Pageant’s Wonderful Artwork + Vogue gala (Images by Terry Shropshire for rolling out)

The theme and decor of the Nationwide Black Arts Pageant’s 18th annual soiree, Wonderful Artwork + Vogue, harmonized with the pure backdrop on the Atlanta Historical past Middle. 

Curated by Nieman Marcus and happening within the ritzy Buckhead part of Atlanta, the NBAF paid homage to preeminent style icons whereas showcasing younger style aficionados’ spectacular works.

NBAF celebrated the style achievements of James Keith and Marylin Nance

A plethora of luminaries graced the celebrated proceedings, together with Mayor Andre Dickens, style icon Derek J from “Vogue Queens,” Monyetta Shaw of “The Actual Housewives of Atlanta” fame, Fulton County Chairman Rob Pitts, David Manuel, director of Fulton County Arts & Tradition, and lots of others. 

James Keith, famend nationally for his red-bottom fedoras, was honored with the Designer Extraordinaire Award. Keith’s firm, Keith and James, is situated in Atlanta and Los Angeles, and his fedoras have been worn by the likes of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, Billy Porter, Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, E40, Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and Martha Stewart.

The inaugural Radcliffe Bailey Award for Excellence in Visible Arts honored the late visionary artist Radcliffe Bailey and was offered to famend visible artist Marylin Nance. 

“NBAF proudly honors trailblazers and visionary leaders within the arts and we’re excited to proceed the custom this yr on the 2024 Wonderful Artwork + Vogue occasion,” says NBAF Government Director, Stephanie Owens.

“We’re grateful to have the chance to pay tribute to our good friend Radcliffe Bailey by renaming the Visible Arts Award in his honor and we’re excited to spotlight Marilyn Nance’s work because the recipient of this award whereas additionally celebrating the work of designer James Keith, and showcasing the work of very gifted scholar artists at this profit. NBAF is privileged to have the chance to assist all of this wonderful expertise and rejoice their achievements and success of their respective fields.”

Proceeds from the NBAF celebration assist to subsidize the NBAF’s in-school arts teaching programs for Atlanta Public Colleges, and the Vogue Ahead Pupil Design Program. This system helps college students in faculty style design diploma applications.
