*(CNN) — Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested Monday on suspicion of assaulting a 26-year-old lady in New York, in keeping with the New York Metropolis Police Division.
The girl is outwardly Porter’s girlfriend and Porter allegedly “assaulted her, struck her a number of instances and choked her,” an NYPD spokesperson instructed CNN.
Porter, 23, was taken into custody on the scene and the girl was taken to a hospital, in keeping with the spokesperson. He was held on preliminary costs of second-degree assault and strangulation, NYPD stated.
Neither Porter’s consultant nor the Rockets have responded to requests for remark.
In an announcement to CNN, NBA spokesperson Mike Bass stated, “We’re conscious of the studies concerning Kevin Porter Jr. The league workplace is involved with the Houston Rockets and within the strategy of gathering extra info.”
Porter was chosen within the first spherical of the 2019 NBA Draft out of College of Southern California by the Milwaukee Bucks. He would later find yourself with the Cleveland Cavaliers after being traded twice.
Porter has performed 4 seasons within the league – one with the Cavaliers and the previous three with the Rockets. Final season he averaged 19.2 factors per recreation.
The Rockets introduced in October that the staff had signed Porter to a multiyear contract extension reportedly value over $80 million.
