NAUW South Central LA Branch Honors Outstanding Women and Awards Scholarships – Los Angeles Sentinel

Eight L.A.-area girls and 4 school college students have been not too long ago acknowledged on the Carrie Ayers Haynes Scholarship Luncheon and Corridor of Fame Celebration on April 19.

The gala occasion, held on the Carson Group Middle, was hosted by the South Central L.A. Department of the Nationwide Affiliation of College Girls. Greater than 200 folks got here out for to salute the honorees on their excellent achievements.

Highlighting this system was the presentation of scholarships. The recipients have been Jeremy Jeter, a junior at Morehouse Faculty; Amara Ceriah McDuffie, a freshman at Emerson Faculty; Amina Raphael, a freshman on the College of Washington; and Logan Stephenson, a freshman at Prairie View A&M College.

NAUW Department President Lena Blakeney described the ladies inducted into the Corridor of Fame as “ones who don’t anticipate change; you create it.”

Blakely famous, “You see a necessity and step ahead, not for recognition, however since you imagine in making a distinction. With deep gratitude and admiration, we rejoice you!”

Christiana Worthams, program chair, described the honorees as “group leaders who’re quietly working as they make significant contributions to our youth, our households and to our communities.”

The Corridor of Fame inductees have been Dr. Delores Alleyne, Dr. Edna Bereal, Billie Inexperienced, Stephany Morris-Nelson, Shirley Patterson, Latonya J. Southall, Janat Tuggle, and Dr. Andrea Younger.

Program members included Valerie Rodgers-Owens, Minister Dani Lyles, Patty Perkins, Gwendolyn White, Erika Lampkin, Jennifer Walker.  Leisure was supplied by Rose Rochelle and Rose King.
