Dr. Anthony Estreet, CEO of NASW, stated that the group will work diligently alongside social employees throughout the nation to “flip empathy into advocacy, care into change and fervour into progress.”

Right here’s what NASW is doing to struggle again.

In response, the NASW is pushing again, talking out towards Trump’s restrictions on threats to Medicaid and Medicare, together with gender-affirming care. They’re additionally resisting dangerous immigration insurance policies that threaten households and kids, in addition to the administration’s makes an attempt to remove DEI initiatives. Along with advocating for weak populations, NASW can also be working to enhance situations throughout the social work subject itself by preventing for larger reimbursement charges for scientific social employees below Medicare, supporting pupil mortgage forgiveness, and pushing for larger office security for social employees.

“We ask for help in recognizing the significance of social employees, not solely throughout Social Work Month however year-round,” stated Dr. Estreet. “Collectively, we will be sure that social employees have the sources they should rework compassion into motion and make an actual distinction within the lives of these we serve whereas sustaining a work-life steadiness that empowers their life-changing work.”

“Now we have (social employees who’re) Republicans, Independents. We assume everyone seems to be like we’re,” the social employee stated. “We expect we’re like-minded however we’re not.”

Rebekah Gewirtz, MPA, govt director of NASW’s Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapters, emphasised the significance of social employees not permitting their political beliefs to intervene with offering care to purchasers who might maintain opposing views.

“Folks have written one another off as a result of they don’t share the identical views,” she added. “We have to come again to the place of assembly folks the place they’re.
