Mississippi Mother Kills Escaped Monkey

Jessica Bond Ferguson feared for the security of her kids and neighbors when the monkey was noticed in her yard

An escaped monkey was killed by a Mississippi lady, Jessica Bond Ferguson, after one in all her kids knowledgeable her that it was operating within the yard outdoors of their dwelling.

In response to The Related Press, Bond Ferguson went inside her dwelling to seize a firearm out of worry that the animal may assault one in all her kids. As soon as she went outdoors the home, after grabbing a gun and a cell phone, she observed the monkey operating about 60 ft away. Considering of the security of her kids and neighbors, she shot on the monkey, and he or she mentioned it simply stood there, so she fired once more. This time, the monkey was hit and he fell to the bottom.

“I did what some other mom would do to guard her kids,” Bond Ferguson advised the media outlet. “I shot at it and it simply stood there, and I shot once more, and he backed up and that’s when he fell.”

The incident occurred close to Heidelberg, Mississippi.

Bond Ferguson said that earlier than the taking pictures, she and different folks within the space have been warned about monkeys that escaped from a truck that had crashed. They have been advised that the animals carried illnesses. Reflecting on the warning prompted her to guard her kids.

“If it attacked any individual’s child, and I might have stopped it, that may be rather a lot on me,” mentioned Bond Ferguson. “It’s type of scary and harmful that they’re operating round, and other people have children taking part in of their yards.”

The Fb web page of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Division alerted residents in regards to the accident involving the transport of Rehsus monkeys from Tulane College.

“On 10/28/25, a wreck occurred on I-59 close to mile marker 117. This was a truck carrying Rhesus monkeys from Tulane College. The monkeys are roughly 40lbs, they’re aggressive to people, they usually require PPE to deal with. The monkeys carry hepatitis C, herpes, and COVID. Tulane College has been notified and can ship a staff to choose up the monkeys tomorrow (those which can be nonetheless caged).”

A truck carrying the monkeys overturned on Oct. 28 on a freeway. There have been reportedly 21 monkeys within the truck. 13 of them have been found on the accident scene and brought to their vacation spot, in keeping with Tulane College. 5 of the monkeys have been killed within the hunt for them, and three have been nonetheless unaccounted for. Earlier than transport, the monkeys have been housed on the Tulane College Nationwide Biomedical Analysis Heart in New Orleans.
