Mayor Adams cancels a border trip, citing safety concerns in Mexico

NEW YORK (AP) — Mayor Eric Adams nixed a deliberate Sunday journey to the U.S.-Mexico border over safety issues.

Adams was slated to depart Saturday evening to go to Brownsville and McAllen, Texas. The Democrat was anticipated to satisfy with U.S. immigration leaders as his metropolis struggles to deal with new migrants looking for asylum.

However Adams spokesperson Amaris Cockfield stated Sunday that the U.S. State Division flagged security issues at one of many mayor’s deliberate stops in Mexico, prompting his workplace to postpone the journey.

Adams had been invited to the southern border by Sister Norma Pimentel, govt director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande, she stated.
