Marine veteran indicted in death of subway rider, sparking debate on mental health, crime, and race

New York Metropolis grand jurors handed down an indictment on Wednesday, charging Daniel Penny, a 24-year-old Marine veteran, with second-degree manslaughter within the loss of life of fellow subway rider Jordan Neely.

The incident final month has develop into a contentious difficulty, stirring discussions on psychological well being, crime, and race.

Penny and Neely had been using an F prepare in Manhattan when Neely allegedly started participating in what witness Juan Alberto described as “considerably aggressive speech.”
