Louisiana Bus Driver Acted on Her Instincts and Led School Children Off Vehicle. She’s Shocked By What Happened Next.

A Louisiana bus driver is being praised by her neighborhood after she saved a gaggle of kids, in keeping with a number of experiences. 

Throughout an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Kia Rousseve recalled the bus “appearing loopy” and “jerking” throughout her common morning route earlier this month, on March 13. 

Rousseve, a driver for Neighborhood Academies of New Orleans for 3 years, stated she was about to make one other cease when she felt like one thing was off, particularly because the car began to lose energy. That’s when she determined to drag over, and a bystander notified her in regards to the smoke on the underside of the bus.

“I put my motherhood on,” she advised the outlet.  “I’ve a baby, so I considered them children prefer it was my very own baby.”

Based on WVUE, she instantly obtained 9 college students — kindergarteners to eighth graders —off the bus by way of the entrance door. Safety digicam footage exhibits the bus burst into flames as quickly because the group obtained off.

“I turned the bus off and obtained off. Once I obtained off, the bus blew up,” Rousseve stated to the information station. “All I heard was growth, growth, growth. I used to be like oh my God, the bus blew up.”

Rousseve famous that she needed to maintain her composure in entrance of the kids, who she stated have been terrified in the course of the incident. She thinks a defective alternator contributed to the hearth and advised some retailers that she might not drive buses anymore. 

Nevertheless, she was touted as brave and a hero for her actions.
