Los Angeles Hosts Reparations Discussion Amidst Landmark Report Release – Los Angeles Sentinel

The Metropolis of Los Angeles took one other step towards addressing historic injustices as metropolis officers, students, and group leaders convened on the California African American Museum (CAAM) for “What’s Subsequent for Reparations?” on February 8.

In August 2024, the Metropolis of Los Angeles Reparations Advisory Fee launched an interim report titled Govt Abstract: An Examination of African American Experiences in Los Angeles.

LA Civil Rights Govt Director Capri Maddox emphasised the intensive analysis and group involvement behind the report, stating, “To develop this report, we carried out over 18 months of unique analysis, evaluation, and public participation, together with practically 60 group engagements and webinars, greater than 600 survey responses, and 18 focus teams and interviews with present and former Angelenos.”

The 56-page interim report additionally featured open letters of assist from elected officers, together with District Eight Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson and District Ten Councilwoman Heather Hutt.
