*(CNN) — Lionel Richie carried out on Monday after he needed to cancel a live performance on the final minute over the weekend.
The singer was compelled to postpone a scheduled New York Metropolis live performance with Earth, Wind, & Hearth at Madison Sq. Backyard on Saturday an hour after the present was supposed to start. He then introduced it could happen on Monday night time as an alternative.
The Grammy winner defined the cancellation was as a result of poor climate circumstances.
“I had two ‘no’s’ to return on the identical time,” Richie stated. “And when these two determined it’s a no — when God says no and when the pilot says no, the reply …” Richie defined on stage Monday in a video shared by concertgoers. “I attempted to bribe the pilot. And the pilot stated, ‘I do need to see my spouse tomorrow.’ So tonight we’re going to make up for that. I apologize for {that a} thousand instances.”

He had additionally posted to X, (previously Twitter) to make the announcement.
“Because of extreme climate and being unable to land within the NY and surrounding areas, I’m unable to make it to the present tonight,” he wrote. “I’m so bummed. We’re rescheduling the present to Monday Aug 14. Can’t wait to carry out for you all. Tickets for tonight’s present are legitimate for the present on Monday.”
Richie is at the moment headlining the “Sing a Music All Evening Lengthy Tour” with Earth, Wind & Hearth.
