On Sunday, Nov. 24, Ghanaian American media mogul and founding father of Heirs of Afrika Koshie Mills hosted her seventh Annual Worldwide Ladies of Energy Awards Gala.

The star-studded occasion passed off on the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles Resort in downtown L.A, and honored Black ladies from the Diaspora and Africa who’re influential leaders, innovators, and highly effective symbols within the fields of leisure, trend, magnificence, enterprise, and social justice.

Earlier than the ceremony, Mills, honorees, and presenters graced the purple carpet of their stunning African clothes. As cameras flashed, they have been all smiles.

Moving into the venue was like immersing your self into a good looking African expertise. Every desk had beautiful flower centerpieces that friends have been allowed to take residence on the finish of the night time, and bottles of actress, author, and producer, Issa Rae’s glowing white wine, Viarae Prosecco.

Actress Pepi Sonuga took the stage to current the Heirs of Afrika “Sankofa” Award to the primary honoree of the night time, Chiney Ogwumike, a two-time WNBA All Star, ESPN host, and founding father of the Queens of the Continent Basis. She humbly accepted her award as she spoke about her hometown of Texas and what being on the occasion meant to her as a girl of African descent.

Grammy Award-winning artist Ledisi introduced the Leisure Roar “Nya Gidi” Award to actress Meagan Good, who couldn’t attend the ceremony, however despatched a heartfelt video message to precise her gratitude.

Actress Ryan Future introduced the Goddess Magnificence “Duafe” Award to actress and singer Sierra McClain. She danced her approach on stage and was in tears shortly after revealing she didn’t really feel as assured as she thought she would, however felt seen and would commerce that for feeling assured any day. She regarded straight at Mills and expressed how pleased and humbled she felt being honored.

Visionary government and the present Chief Advertising and marketing and Communications Officer for the NAACP Aba Blankson introduced the “Media Titan “Dame-Dame” Award to entrepreneur and musician Shavone Charles, and Zeus Community President/CEO Lemuel Plummer introduced the Lionheart Enterprise “Akofena” Award to Janeisha John.

To shut out the awards, actress, author, and producer Yetide Badaki introduced the Warrior “Adinkrahene” Award to Caroline Wanga, who gave a charming, poignant speech about her journey to get to the place she is at the moment.
