Jamie Foxx Tears Up During BET Awards Speech, Reflects on Near-Fatal Stroke

Nationwide — Jamie Foxx broke down in tears whereas accepting the Final Icon Honor on the 2025 BET Awards, opening up about his near-fatal stroke in 2023, his lengthy restoration, and the help of his daughters that helped him survive.

The 57-year-old actor took the stage and talked in regards to the darkest time he confronted after struggling a mind bleed that brought about his stroke. He shortly grew emotional, saying he as soon as took life without any consideration however now sees it in a different way.

Foxx was hospitalized in April 2023. In his 2024 Netflix particular What Had Occurred Was, he shared that he misplaced 20 days of reminiscence and referred to as it the worst 12 months of his life.

Since then, he has returned to appearing and even earned a Golden Globe nomination for his comedy comeback.
