After Scott introduced his withdrawal, a shocked Gowdy requested, “You’re…you’re suspending your presidential marketing campaign? You’ve loads of cash. You’ve the very best approval numbers of any candidate… and you might be suspending your presidential marketing campaign?”

“I’m certainly suspending the marketing campaign, however I’m going to stay as dedicated to creating certain that this nation chooses the appropriate individual by having fun with the journey of simply serving to folks in every single place all through South Carolina and all through our nation,” Scott responded. “I feel the voters who’re essentially the most outstanding folks on the planet have been actually clear that they’re telling me, ‘Not Now, Tim,’” Scott additionally acknowledged.

Politico reported that initially of Scott’s marketing campaign, his advisers rejected the notion that he would possibly make a play for vp, with one adviser stating the suggestion was “insulting.”

When he was requested concerning the risk after suspending his marketing campaign, Scott mentioned on Fox, “I’ll be trustworthy with you, I ran for president to be president. I imagine I might have taken this nation to new heights with nice unity on conservative rules.”

“That’s what the Lord put in my coronary heart. I feel I used to be referred to as to run. I used to be not referred to as to win. However I actually was referred to as to run. And I’ll say this, that being vp has by no means been on my to-do listing for this marketing campaign, and it’s actually not there now,” Scott added.
