Irish Grinstead, Founding Member of Nineties Girl Group 702, Dead at 43

Irish Grinstead, one of many founding members of the nineties lady group 702, has died. She was 43 years outdated. LeMisha Grinstead, Grinstead’s older sister and former group member, shared the unhappy information of her sibling’s passing on Instagram.

“It’s with nice disappointment that I’ve to let you understand that my stunning sister and buddy has handed away this night,” she wrote on September 16. “She has had a protracted battle and he or she is lastly at peace. That lady was as brilliant as the celebrities! She was not solely stunning on the skin, but in addition inside. Sharing the stage along with her was a pleasure I’ll cherish for the remainder of my life! We, the household ask for prayers and respect for our privateness as we grieve an impressive loss to our household.”

Whereas her reason for dying isn’t identified, 702 introduced on their Instagram web page final December that Irish could be “taking a medical go away of absence as a consequence of critical medical points. It’s our hope that she could have a wholesome and speedy restoration within the months to return.”

Initially comprised of twins Irish and Orish, their older sister LeMisha Grinstead and Amelia Childs, the group named themselves after their hometown space code in Las Vegas. After their debut on R&B group Subway’s hit single “This Lil’ Recreation We Play,” LeMisha and Amelia exited 702, which then turned a trio with the addition of classmate Kameelah Williams. 

Releasing their first album, No Doubt in 1996, 702 dropped their most well-known music, “The place My Women At?” in 1999. On April 20, 2008, Irish’s twin Orish died from kidney failure at age 27.

In 2021, Irish and LeMisha appeared on BET Presents: The Encore, an authentic actuality sequence that introduced collectively R&B lady group members of the Nineties and early 2000s to file a supergroup album in 30 days.
