How comedian Mike Epps bought back every home on his childhood block

Mike Epps and his spouse, TV producer Kyra Epps, not too long ago began rehabbing properties in Epps’ Indianapolis childhood neighborhood.  Their work is featured in HGTV’s “Shopping for Again the Block,” which follows Epps and his spouse Kyra as they buy the block within the Kennedy-King space.

“This was about holding onto legacy; this was about holding on to what we come from,” Epps informed IndyStar.

In whole, the couple bought six properties, two of which Epps and his household had been evicted from whereas he was younger. 

Following the renovation of their dwelling on the block, a former firehouse, the couple started work on two properties for 12 weeks, together with a home subsequent door and a property that belonged to Epps’ grandmother, Anna Walker.

“Indianapolis is dwelling for me, and there’s nothing on the planet prefer it. That’s why I’m shopping for again my block,” Epps expressed in a promotional video on Instagram.

“I purchased my complete childhood block again—six properties that we truly obtained evicted from,” he added.

Based on HGTV, the Epps intend to “revitalize the struggling neighborhood and convey again the attraction, neighborhood, and character that Mike valued rising up.”

Epps grew up within the Seventies on the intersection of twenty first Road and Carrollton Avenue, in line with earlier IndyStar reporting. The star of Netflix’s “The Upshaws” highlighted that the neighborhood’s homes and streets have deteriorated through the years.

His spouse, supervising producer of “Iyanla”, “Repair My Life” and “The BET Social Awards,” remarked, “That is so cool that we’re capable of give a chance for individuals to return again right here.”

The HGTV present “Shopping for Again the Block” started on November 8 and is at present obtainable on Max and Discovery+.
