How American adventurer Eddie Bond is experiencing Africa slowly

American lengthy distance walker Eddie Bond is strolling the size of the African continent, from Cape Agulhas in South Africa to Cairo, Egypt, one step at a time.

Bond hails from Honolulu, Hawaii.

Having already lined shut to three 000 kilometres, he arrived in Zimbabwe final Thursday.

He handed via South Africa and Botswana.

On Saturday departed Bulawayo on foot towards Victoria Falls, from the place his journey will proceed into Zambia.

How Eddie Bond walks Africa one step at a time

Bond started his stroll on 7 September 2025, anticipating the journey to final two to 3 years.

“Once I left house, I advised everybody I’d see them in 2028,” he advised Culxure Magazine.

Now, simply over 100 days in, his tempo has stunned even him.

“If this charge retains up, it’ll take a few yr, perhaps a yr and a half,” he says.

“To stroll all the best way throughout Africa — that’s humongous. In a yr, that’s fairly good.”

Regardless of the dimensions of the journey, Bond insists he has no inflexible plan.

“I don’t know what’s going to occur tomorrow,” he says. “I simply know I’m heading to Victoria Falls, then Lusaka, and that’s all I do know, actually.”

For him, uncertainty is just not a weak spot. It’s the level.

“I’m not afraid in any respect,” Bond says calmly. “I’m simply grateful and I really feel honoured that I get to do that.”

Zimbabwe represents a major milestone in Bond’s journey, not simply geographically, however emotionally.

In Zimbabwe, Bond has linked up with long-distance walkers South African James Shuping Setshogelo and Zimbabwean Dr Gasolo.

Now strolling from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls, he’s immersed in a rustic he admits he as soon as knew little about.

“Day by day I hear totally different languages,” he says. “My mind is having a tough time maintaining.”

In Botswana, locals gave him a reputation that he carries with delight.

“They known as me Motsamai,” Bond says. “They taught me to say, Kebiriwa Motsamai — which suggests, ‘I’m the walker.’ That’s such a cool factor.”

Strolling Towards Concern

Buddies again house questioned his sanity.

“They stated, ‘You’re loopy. Isn’t it harmful?’” Bond remembers.

His response has remained unchanged.

“I’m not afraid in any respect.”

As a substitute, he hopes his journey will gently problem long-held fears and misconceptions about Africa.

“Possibly individuals gained’t be so afraid,” he says. “Possibly they’ll get to see via my posts what it’s actually like — that individuals are lovely in every single place.”
