Historically Black fraternity drops Florida for convention because of DeSantis policies

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The oldest traditionally Black collegiate fraternity within the U.S. says it’s relocating a deliberate conference in two years from Florida due to what it described as Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration’s “dangerous, racist and insensitive” insurance policies in the direction of African Individuals.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity mentioned this week that it could transfer its 2025 conference from Orlando to a different location that’s but undecided. The conference attracts between 4,000 and 6,000 individuals and has an financial affect of $4.6 million, the fraternity mentioned.
