Harris delivers fiery speech in Florida after school curriculum on slavery draws outrage

Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a fiery speech in Florida after the state’s training board issued controversial new requirements for educating college students about slavery and racism in America.

Harris joined civil rights leaders, educators, group members and elected officers in Jacksonville, Florida, the place she forcefully condemned Republican leaders over a statewide African-American historical past curriculum that might train center schoolers that enslaved Black folks benefited from slavery as a result of they discovered new abilities and that Black People dedicated violence throughout race massacres.

The freshman congresswoman echoed Harris, calling Republicans “extremists” who’re waging a tradition battle and “pushing an agenda that really hurts our American tradition.” She stated educating younger college students “falsehoods” and “propaganda” will put them at an important drawback on the world stage.
