1000’s of revelers gathered in Harlem on Sept. 21 for the Annual African American Day Parade (AADP), now in its 56th yr.
The 2-mile parade route stretched alongside Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, featured the most effective New York’s Black neighborhood needed to supply: marching bands, neighborhood organizations, efficiency teams, floats, fraternities and sororities, and civil servants. Quite a few celebrities and public figures appeared too.

Among the many grand marshals have been Dr. Tony Allen, president of Delaware State College; Dr. Martin Lamelle Jr., president of Grambling State College; and Dr. Patrice Ramsey, president of Medgar Evers School.
This yr’s theme —“Schooling is Our #1 Precedence”— highlighted the significance of civic engagement. Parade officers honored school presidents from traditionally Black schools and universities (HBCUs), native principals, and training leaders who’ve made vital contributions to the African American neighborhood.
