Groundbreaking Documentary on HIV and Aging in the Black Community Now Streaming on Prime Video

Nationwide — After greater than ten years in improvement, Even Me the Journey, the highly effective function documentary directed by Dr. Megan T. Ebor, is now out there to stream on Prime Video. The movie follows the lives of older Black girls and one Black man dwelling and getting older with HIV in Los Angeles. These resilient and often-overlooked voices take middle stage in a deeply human and transformative story about sexual well being, getting older, stigma, and triumph.

Evolving from the award-winning quick movies Even Me and Even Me 2.0, the brand new feature-length model weaves collectively these tales into one emotionally highly effective and unapologetically trustworthy narrative. Among the many standout voices is Joyce, who shares her lived expertise with uncooked vulnerability, talking candidly about intercourse, getting older, and therapeutic, subjects hardly ever addressed via the lens of Black elders.

“This movie facilities the ability of voice and the necessity for illustration,” stated Dr. Megan T. Ebor, Assistant Professor of Social Work and Founding Director of the Well being Fairness Analysis (HER) Multimedia Lab at San Diego State College. “Older Black girls are sometimes not prioritized in public well being conversations, particularly with regards to sexual well being and HIV. This movie affirms that their lives, their tales, and their well being matter.”

With over a decade of expertise in geriatric social work and community-based analysis, Dr. Ebor brings each cultural integrity and scientific perception to the display. Her movies have sparked significant conversations at screenings hosted by neighborhood organizations, church buildings, universities, and worldwide boards. Now, with nationwide entry on Prime Video and different platforms, Even Me the Journey invitations viewers in all places to witness the power, humor, and resilience of Black elders whose lived experiences problem long-held assumptions.

In regards to the DocumentaryEven Me the Journey is a 50-minute feature-length documentary exploring the sexual well being, resilience, and lived experiences of older Black Individuals getting older with HIV. By co-created storytelling and radical honesty, the movie supplies a significant portrait of survival, intimacy, and power in a neighborhood usually omitted of media and public well being conversations. About HER Multimedia LabThe Well being Fairness Analysis Multimedia Lab (HER Lab) at San Diego State College makes use of movie, storytelling, and analysis to deal with well being disparities in underrepresented communities.
