Georgia Mayor Requests Protection After Receiving Racists Emails, Threatening Voicemails

The mayor of the town of South Fulton in metropolitan Atlanta and his attorneys are demanding an investigation into current racist emails and threatening voicemails he reportedly has obtained following his arrest in early July.

Khalid Kamau was arrested on July 8 for trespassing on another person’s property after he alleged that he thought the property was on the market. For the reason that incident, the controversial mayor has claimed that he’s obtained racist and threatening emails from nameless senders.

“Hey you ugly Black [expletive]. You bought caught breaking right into a home, didn’t you? I hope a few of these good previous KKK boys offer you a few of that old-time Southern justice. I’ll throw a celebration after I examine that,” learn one of many emails obtained by WAGA-TV FOX5 Atlanta.

The second electronic mail learn, “Nearly all of People don’t take care of Blacks. I’m one in all them. I’m not chopping any of you slack, catch y’all committing crimes, put your trash out of your distress. Fairly [expletive] ridiculous that you simply bunch of [N-word] can’t cease breaking the legislation. Get with it.”

Jacoby Hudson and Brian Metal, attorneys for Kamau, are requesting 24-hour safety for the mayor.

“These emails are making him really feel uncomfortable, so the police are attempting to talk with him, and we’re going to make him out there to talk with them about these emails,” Hudson stated to Fox5.

Kamau was elected South Fulton’s mayor in 2021 after the town was formally included in 2017. The town is positioned 20 miles south of Atlanta and has a inhabitants of about 111,158 residents.

“I spoke with the mayor instantly about 10 minutes in the past, and he feels he wants safety. For any metropolis over a inhabitants of 100,000, that may be frequent sense to offer them safety,” the lawyer concluded.

The South Fulton police division believes the threats are coming from out of state. They’re presently Kansas and Dallas as potential places.

“These emails could be perceived as a menace, however extra so hate speech. They’re very alarming and trigger a whole lot of concern,” stated Hudson.

As for the trespassing incident, the mayor continues to be proclaiming his innocence. The Fulton County District Lawyer’s Workplace confirmed Kamau is being investigated however declined to offer particulars on the investigation.
