Free Mental Health Support Reaches HBCU Students

Xceleader introduced a brand new partnership with BetterHelp, the world’s largest on-line remedy platform, offering 200 college students enrolled at Traditionally Black Schools and Universities with three months of entry to free counseling companies.

This partnership provides much-needed psychological well being assist to college students and promotes a proactive method to psychological well being and wellness.

In 2018, Xceleader was created by three HBCU alumni: Aarian Forman (Tennessee State College), Jade Agudosi (Howard College), and Tevon Blair (Dillard College).

Not too long ago, there was a big rise within the prevalence of despair and anxiousness amongst Black college students. A research from the Nationwide Institutes of Well being discovered that roughly 34% of Black college students reported feeling “so depressed within the final yr it was tough to perform.”

Xceleader’s main focus is on offering college students with entry to sources, mentorship, and alternatives to allow them to thrive academically and professionally. By partnering with BetterHelp, Xceleader goals to additional their mission by addressing the urgent want for psychological well being assist amongst college students, particularly these actively engaged in management roles on campus.

The Atlanta Voice: How did the partnership with BetterHelp come to be?

Aarian Forman: Working intently with college students, we began to listen to extra tales concerning the challenges they have been going through, relative to their psychological wellness, and the affect it was having on their educational and private lives.
