Female high school students in Nigeria invent smart walking sticks for the blind

College students of the Regina Pacis Secondary College in Nigeria just lately made waves for creating Good Strolling Sticks For The Blind. Demonstrating exceptional modern abilities in robotics and coding, the women invented Good Sticks that may detect obstacles not lower than 120 centimeters away from a blind particular person, Channels TV reported.

To check the effectiveness of the product, some visually impaired individuals reviewed the Good Sticks at a particular occasion.

 Based on Pulse Nigeria, the Youth Coordinator of the Nigeria Affiliation of the Blind (NAB), Anambra State, Chibuzor Obierika, who spoke on the launch of the modern product, shared that the invention was improved after its first take a look at.

“After constructing this mission, we seen it might solely sense obstacles horizontally in entrance of the blind man, so we determined to advance this mission. The Good Sticks can now sense objects from an angle of elevation and an angle of despair,” she stated.

The Good Sticks are designed with an ultrasonic sensor that alerts a blind particular person of an impediment not lower than 120 centimeters forward. This newest innovation from the all-female faculty aligns with the Anambra state authorities’s mandate to assist improvements amongst younger expertise.

The exhibition of the Good Sticks occurred throughout the pastoral go to of the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke.
