Federal officials to vet social media accounts of visa applicants heading to Harvard

Federal officers are set to begin reviewing the social media accounts of visa candidates who plan to attend, work at or go to Harvard College for any indicators of antisemitism, marking the most recent growth in a conflict between the Trump administration and the Ivy League faculty.

A cable despatched Friday signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and obtained by The Related Press accused the college of failing to maintain violence and antisemitism off campus. It stated the vetting measure will assist consular officers establish candidates with a historical past of these offenses “and to duly contemplate their visa eligibility beneath U.S. immigration regulation.”
