Ex-NYPD staff says she lost her job for reporting boss who sat on her desk visibly aroused

A former NYPD worker, Lattina Brown, has alleged that her boss, Brian Adams, who claimed to be associated to Mayor Adams, sexually harassed her by sitting on her desk visibly aroused. Brown claimed she was fired and subjected to retaliation after reporting his habits.

Her woes started quickly after she began her $70,000-a-year job as a citywide group coordinator in June 2022. Brown mentioned that the harassment occurred after touring with Adams to a gathering at Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso’s workplace, in accordance with the New York Publish.

She recalled that after she acquired out of her automobile, a girl she didn’t know intimated “You might be very stunning and I like your gown,” Brown mentioned in court docket papers.

In response, Adams allegedly inferred “That lady wasn’t attempting to go with you, she needs to sleep with you. You might have ladies checking you out since you look good.”

After a gathering, Adams allegedly requested Brown if she was married and if she was “sexy” whereas they had been within the automobile. Brown mentioned she “instantly felt involved for her security and felt traumatic flashbacks to a earlier sexual assault she suffered.”

On June 21, 2022, Brown alleged that Adams sat on her desk, unfold his legs, and displayed his erect penis by his pants. A close-by police officer seen and Adams abruptly walked away. The officer then escorted Brown outdoors, the place she knowledgeable them concerning the alleged harassment she had been experiencing.

The police officer urged Brown to file a grievance, which she finally did. The lawsuit alleges that Adams boasted about being associated to Mayor Eric Adams. Nevertheless, the mayor’s workplace declined to touch upon their relationship, and no proof of such a connection was present in paperwork.

Adams declined to remark, however in accordance with a police supply, he denied the allegations, stating that Brown complained “after she knew she was getting fired.”

Brown, who had beforehand labored as a Metropolis Council staffer, reported a supervisor in Corey Johnson’s workplace for making disparaging remarks about minorities. She reported the alleged harassment by Adams to Police Commissioner Edward Caban, whom she knew from her group work.

Regardless of Brown’s calls to Caban concerning the conduct, the lawsuit claims he took no motion. One other worker named within the swimsuit, Arianna Dillon, allegedly knowledgeable Brown that Adams had subjected her to related habits.
