Dricus du Plessis thanks South Africans: ‘Protecting me in battle’

Combined-martial arts fighter Dricus du Plessis has thanked God and South Africans for standing in his nook following a tricky few weeks. This follows his UFC 290 victory and his conflict with rival Israel Adesanya.

Earlier this month, the Pretoria-born fighter gained a vital match in opposition to his opponent Robert Whittaker in Las Vegas. Dricus is billed to face off in opposition to Israel for the title in September.

DRICUS DU PLESSIS SHARES ‘APPRECIATION POST’

Taking to his Instagram account, Dricus devoted an “appreciation submit” to his largest supporters.

Posting an image of him within the ring on the UFC 290, the SA athlete mirrored on his robust Christian religion.

He posted: “To me, each battle is devoted to somebody who helped me get to the place I’m on this superb jour. This one was devoted 100% to my Lord and saviour, JESUS CHRIST. Thanks, Lord, for this superb blessing!

“Thanks for the blessing of expertise, thanks for my household and mates and thanks for loving and defending me in battle, and thanks Lord for blessing SOUTH AFRICA.”

He added: “I like you, and all honour of this win is in your identify, AMEN.”

IS HIS FIGHT AGAINST IZZY STILL ON?

Dricus and Israel Adesanya have been initially anticipated to face off within the ring on 10 September in Sydney, Australia.

However in line with Izzy, the battle is off as a result of South African creating a foot harm.

In accordance with MMA Information, Israel will now battle his “second alternative” opponent, Sean Strickland.
