DCPS commemorates 9/11 victims after 24 years

D.C. Public Colleges (DCPS) took time to recollect these killed on Sept. 11, 2001, with a particular tribute to the DCPS college students and lecturers who had been killed 24 years in the past within the tragic terror assaults. 

“On today, we bear in mind six members of the DCPS household we misplaced 24 years in the past: college students Asia Cottom, Bernard Brown, and Rodney Dickens, and lecturers Hilda Taylor, James Debeuneure, and Sarah Clark,” wrote DCPS officers, in an announcement launched on the official DCPS Meta (Fb) account. “They’d been chosen to take part in a visit to check ecology in California beside Nationwide Geographic Society researchers. On September 11, 2001, lower than 35 minutes into the journey, their flight was hijacked. At 9:37AM, the aircraft crashed into the Pentagon. All passengers on board had been killed, and 125 Pentagon workers misplaced their lives.”

In memoriam, DCPS officers gave particulars on the scholars and the lecturers who boarded the fateful flight, American Airways Flight 77.

Academics remembered Asia as kindhearted and keen to assist her classmates,” mentioned DCPS officers. “Bernard was the kind of scholar who stored lecturers on their toes at Leckie Elementary Faculty. Bernard’s lecturers agreed that he was exhibiting actual progress, and that was one of many the explanation why he was really useful to take part within the journey. CeeCee Ross Lyles, a flight attendant on United Airways Flight 93, is remembered for her bravery on Sept. 11, 2001. After serving as a police officer, Ross Lyles turned a flight attendant. She completed her coaching in January of 2001.
