In line with Deadline, in 2023, Talbert launched HBCU Subsequent, a fellowship program that he based and funded alongside his spouse and manufacturing companion Lyn Sisson-Talbert, in an effort to enrich the academic alternatives obtainable to aspiring filmmakers at HBCUs by bringing them to USC’s Faculty of Cinematic Arts Summer season Program.
As Talbert advised Deadline relating to this system, “Our general goal is to foster an surroundings for college students from HBCUs and USC to have interaction in cultural alternate, studying from each other’s experiences and backgrounds, and to supply entry to an schooling conducive to giving Black storytellers a pipeline to the leisure business.”
