Daughter Of Hampton Alum Performs HBCU Dance Tribute

The daughter of a former Hampton College T Drive dancer honored her mom and HBCU tradition in a video tribute.

The 11-year-old daughter of a proud HBCU alum let her baby shine in a video efficiency that pays tribute to the colourful spirit of HBCU tradition by means of dance.

Dancer Harley J shared a video on Might 21 in response to a problem from Triple 7 Dance Studio to showcase what conjures up her to bounce. Drawing inspiration from her mom, a former dancer, Harley introduced HBCU tradition to life by portraying 12 completely different characters at a spirited soccer sport, capturing the power and essence of the expertise.

“Why do I dance? Let me present you,” Harley says to the digicam in the beginning of the video.

Clips function the younger dancer embodying varied iconic figures from an HBCU homecoming, together with marching band members, dancers, soccer gamers, spirited followers, and even older alumni playfully questioning if the dancers are sporting stockings. All through the efficiency, Harley holds up indicators that replicate her private journey and inspiration for dance, with every character representing a cherished a part of the HBCU custom.

“Dance is artwork!!” one signal reads as Harley is dressed as a crowd member.

“Dance is enjoyable!!” says one other.

Inside her caption, Harley shared extra about her love for the artwork type.

“I dance as a result of I like to specific myself, and it brings me a lot pleasure,” she wrote. “Dance can be a part of my historical past, and I select to have fun it. I prepare in ballet, faucet, jazz, hip-hop, fashionable, and modern—however what I like most is how dance tells a narrative and the way it makes folks really feel one thing.”

Along with her mother proudly representing Hampton College and the T Drive dance crew, Harley donned her mother’s 2002 uniform and showcased traditional majorette strikes. Viewers praised the efficiency, celebrating each Harley’s expertise and the genuine HBCU spirit she dropped at life.

“That is our Future!!!” one HBCU alum wrote.

“Magnificent!!! Like Mom Like Daughter !!!! She’s a pure expertise, and I find it irresistible !!!!” added another person.

Harley expressed hopes for extra shares of the video, which is a part of a contest that might earn her a free yr of dance lessons if she wins.
