Nationwide — CBS has formally canceled The Equalizer reboot after 5 seasons, marking the tip of the Queen Latifah-led collection that reimagined the traditional Eighties crime drama. The community confirmed that the upcoming Might 4 episode will function the present’s ultimate broadcast, wrapping up the story of Robyn McCall, a former CIA operative who used her expertise to assist these in determined want. This choice brings to an in depth the final remaining “bubble” present on CBS’s schedule, following a string of current cancellations that included the freshman sitcom Poppa’s Home and two FBI franchise entries—FBI: Worldwide and FBI: Most Needed. CBS had additionally examined the waters earlier this season with a backdoor pilot for a possible Equalizer spinoff, however that venture has been shelved as effectively.

Though followers are disenchanted, the cancellation comes as little shock. Business insiders had thought of The Equalizer weak final season as effectively. One issue might have been its manufacturing construction: the present was a co-production between CBS Studios and Common Tv, which may complicate renewal selections when profit-sharing is concerned, particularly for a collection deep into its run.

CBS is already looking forward to a reshuffled lineup. A number of new dramas have been greenlit for subsequent season, together with a brand new FBI spinoff starring Tom Ellis, the comedy collection DMV, and two extra franchise extensions—Sheriff Nation from the world of Fireplace Nation and Boston Blue, a Blue Bloods spinoff. As well as, CBS picked up the Matthew Grey Gubler-led drama Einstein, although its premiere has been delayed till the 2026-2027 season.

In the meantime, CBS continues to take a position closely in its profitable properties. The hit comedy Ghosts has secured a two-season renewal, whereas different common titles equivalent to NCIS and Tracker have additionally been renewed for added seasons. The community is clearly steering its focus towards franchises and high-performing collection with sturdy syndication worth.

The Equalizer initially debuted in 2021 and shortly established a loyal viewership, thanks partly to Queen Latifah’s commanding efficiency as Robyn McCall. The ensemble forged additionally included Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, Laya DeLeon Hayes, and Lorraine Toussaint. The present was developed by Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller, and government produced by a group that included Queen Latifah, Debra Martin Chase, John Davis, Loretha Jones, and others. Regardless of its cancellation, the collection leaves behind a notable legacy as one of many few community dramas led by a Black lady.
