California County to Pay $7.5M to Family of Black Homeless Man Killed In Police Confrontation Over Jaywalking In 2020

The household of a homeless Black man in California who died by the hands of a sheriff’s deputy after reportedly jaywalking will obtain a $7.5 million settlement of their wrongful demise lawsuit.

Kurt Andras Reinhold was shot and killed on Sept. 23, 2020, by an Oakland County Sheriff’s Division deputy in San Clemente. On Tuesday, Might 9, throughout a closed-session assembly, the OC Board of Supervisors accredited the settlement, in response to The Orange County Register.
