The Black Ladies Photographers Collective’s grant utility closes on April 14.
Flickr, in partnership with SmugMug, is providing a brand new $5,000 grant to the Black Ladies Photographers Collective in celebration of the group’s fifth anniversary.
The Flickr and BWP grant can be awarded to successful recipients to assist them in advancing their pictures apply. In pursuit of this purpose, the grant will come together with a two-year Flickr Professional membership and a one-year SmugMug Professional subscription, each of which is able to assist improve the recipient’s pictures merchandise.
Along with the successful grant recipient, 10 candidates will obtain a one-year Flickr Professional membership and a one-year SmugMug Professional subscription.
“Black Ladies Photographers play a significant position in driving inclusivity within the pictures group. We’re honored to collaborate once more and assist showcase the work and views of those gifted photographers,” Crystal Duarte, director of selling at Flickr, stated in a press launch.
A panel of judges has already been chosen, together with Polly Irungu, the founding father of BWP and former White Home photographer and editor; 2023 grant winner Genesis Falls, a member of each BWP and Flickr; and Neighborhood Supervisor MacKenzie Joslin.
“Neighborhood is core to the work and id of BWP, so I’m honored to associate with a model that has been fostering that from day one,” Irungu stated. “Flickr has poured again into their group numerous occasions, and I’m excited for them to pour into the BWP group with this grant alternative.”
Black Ladies Photographers, based in 2020 by Irungu, has over 2,100 Black and African ladies creatives worldwide.
With the mission of adequately recognizing Black ladies within the pictures trade and addressing coming hiring disparities, BWP is an trade useful resource for girls of coloration, performing as a database for distribution and a set of free instructional providers.
In accordance with Flickr and BWP, to be eligible for the $5,000 grant, candidates should submit a photograph that embodies the theme of “the areas you occupy” and share an outline of the picture in relation to the immediate.
Purposes are due April 14.
