Energy within the Pause has fostered group nationwide. BWHI’s initiative brings girls collectively nationwide for group occasions the place well being consultants in medication, diet, sexual well being, and psychological well being share analysis and knowledge for Black girls navigating perimenopause and menopause.

BWHI Releases Groundbreaking Research

In 2025, BWHI carried out the largest-ever cross-sectional on-line survey of U.S.-based Black girls aged 30 and older to know their experiences, wants, and data associated to menopause. Greater than 1,500 Black girls responded, representing an informed, insured, and professionally lively group with robust incomes energy and entry to care.

Just a few standout findings from the research embody:

43% of Black girls report being discriminated in opposition to or mistreated when in search of healthcare

Black girls expertise menopause signs for a mean of 9 years —far longer than most anticipate

“If this group of Black girls mentioned they didn’t have sufficient data, don’t know which suggestions to observe, what about our sisters who aren’t as properly educated, formally educated, who aren’t in a position to be on this increased socioeconomic class?” Calloway says.

“What about these girls who don’t have the time to deal with their well being as a result of they’re too busy making an attempt to care for youngsters, or working a number of jobs, or making an attempt to make ends meet? That’s what struck me.”
