Brazen R1 million art heist rocks Pringle Bay

The South African artwork world has been left reeling after a daring theft noticed seven sculptures stolen from the Fomo High quality Artwork sculpture backyard in Pringle Bay within the Western Cape earlier this month.

The audacious heist, which occurred below the duvet of darkness, concerned six works by famend worldwide sculptor Anton Smit and one piece by acclaimed blended media artist Janko de Beer.

Reportedly, the perpetrators disabled the backyard’s entrance CCTV digital camera earlier than fleeing with the dear artworks.

Emotional and Monetary Blow

Janko de Beer, deeply affected by the theft, described the incident as “a heavy blow to the inventive group.”

“The loss quantities to simply over R1 million, however the emotional and cultural loss is much larger,” stated De Beer.

“Theft of this nature is a blow not solely to us however to the South African artwork group at giant.”

De Beer is urging the general public, collectors, and gallery homeowners to be looking out for the stolen works and to report any suspicious exercise.

Police Investigation Underway
