Black Gerontologist With 20 Years of Experience Releases New Children’s Book to Inspire Young Readers to Care for the Elderly

Nationwide — Ivory Desires to be a Gerontologist by Aisha C. Younger is a heartwarming new youngsters’s guide that follows the journey of 10-year-old Ivory, a younger lady who discovers her ardour for serving to older adults via the deep bond she shares together with her grandparents. Designed for readers ages 6 to 12, the story introduces the sector of gerontology as a significant and rewarding profession path for youth who get pleasure from spending time with seniors.

As Ivory spends time together with her grandparents, she experiences firsthand the ability of affection, compassion, and household connection. In 2009, Aisha based African People in Gerontology (AAIG), a nationwide group devoted to selling consciousness and advocacy for growing older points within the Black group. She can also be the creator of Reverence Day: Honoring Aged African People, a day put aside to acknowledge the legacy and contributions of African American elders.

A passionate gerontologist, chaplain, and womanist theologian, Aisha finds pleasure in civic engagement and cherishes time spent together with her daughter, studying, and crafting.
