Biden commutes sentence for Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier, convicted in killing of FBI agents

WASHINGTON (AP) — Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier will return residence practically half a century after he was imprisoned for the 1975 killings of two FBI brokers. President Joe Biden commuted Peltier’s sentence Monday following many years of community-led advocacy calling his imprisonment an instance of the U.S. authorities’s mistreatment of Native People.
