Barrington’s Jamaican Kitchen, a preferred Jamaican restaurant in Bakersfield, California, was pressured to shut its doorways resulting from monetary difficulties. The proprietor is asking for help from the group to reopen this cherished native eatery. 

Barrington Lewis opened the Jamaican restaurant in 2017. Identified for its genuine delicacies and welcoming ambiance, the restaurant rapidly gained reputation amongst locals. Lewis talked about that he started going through monetary challenges in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, which introduced capability constraints and rising inflation. The Jamaica-born native famous that his restaurant didn’t obtain the monetary help associated to COVID that different companies obtained throughout that point. 

“I fell in need of getting the monetary assist that the nation was getting, and I didn’t get it as a result of they exhausted the cash that that they had allotted for small companies like mine. I used to be type of relying on that,” Lewis advised the Jamaica Observer.

He acquired a brand new constructing about 5 minutes from his previous location. Lewis deliberate to reopen there on April 1 however couldn’t resulting from monetary constraints. The enterprise proprietor says he’s going through difficulties acquiring the monetary sources required to buy restaurant gear, provides, and a rental deposit. He has launched a GoFundMe to assist elevate $20,000 to assist cowl the prices. 

The enterprise proprietor, who offered free meals to unhoused individuals, hopes to reconnect along with his clients with whom he has constructed stable relationships over time. Lewis has but to announce a date for the restaurant’s reopening.
