Assault trial for actor Jonathan Majors postponed until September

NEW YORK (AP) — Actor Jonathan Majors’ home violence trial was postponed till no less than Sept. 6 after New York Metropolis prosecutors requested Thursday for extra time to arrange.

Majors, 33, appeared in courtroom for what was to have been the beginning of his trial on fees stemming from a March confrontation with a girl who says he twisted her arm behind her again, struck her on the pinnacle and pushed her right into a car. The lady was handled at a hospital for minor neck and head accidents, together with a minimize to her ear.

Majors is charged with misdemeanors, together with assault, and might be sentenced to as a lot as a yr in jail if convicted.

The choose set a brand new tentative trial date of Sept. 6 after prosecutors from the Manhattan district lawyer’s workplace requested extra time for discovery.

Majors walked out of the courtroom after the listening to, acknowledging some seated within the gallery. At one level he bumped his hand to his coronary heart to a girl seated close to the door.

His lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, stated in an electronic mail that Majors was unjustly arrested and that it was he who “suffered by the hands” of his accuser.

She stated Majors was “the actual sufferer on this shameful ordeal,” including that he “has had his life, profession, and repute torn aside. But he stays unwavering in his dedication to be absolved from this harrowing ordeal.”

Majors has starred within the films “Creed III,” “Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania,” amongst different options.
