Angela Bassett Reflects On ‘Waiting To Exhale’ 30 Years Later

Ready to Exhale made historical past when it premiered on Dec. 22, 1995, ushering in a cultural shift with its all-Black feminine ensemble forged starring Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, and Lela Rochon. Directed by Forest Whitaker, the groundbreaking movie adopted 4 shut pals as they navigated careers, household, and romance whereas bonding over the shortcomings of their love lives, most notably the shortage of fine males.
